Hindu temples and gurdwaras in the Netherlands

The Netherlands has some fifty Hindu mandirs, most built by the Hindustani-Surinamese community, and about nine gurdwaras. Amsterdam’s Lord Shiva Hindu Temple in Zuidoost is open daily; the Radha Krishna Mandir in Osdorp on Sundays. The Hague and Rotterdam have the densest clusters, and Rotterdam’s Shri Shiv Mandir is the oldest in the country.

Also worth knowing

The Hindoe Raad Nederland, the Hindu council, keeps the full list of some fifty mandirs; this page covers the ones in the cities where Indian newcomers live. Most were built by the Hindustani-Surinamese community, whose ancestors left Bihar and Uttar Pradesh for Suriname.

There is also a gurdwara in Beverwijk; Sikhs in Holland (sikhs.nl) keeps the national list of about nine. Sri Sathya Sai groups meet in Amsterdam and other cities — sathyasai.nl gives the addresses on request.

Pandits for house ceremonies come through the mandirs and the Hindoe Raad.

Is there a Hindu temple in Amsterdam?
Several. The Lord Shiva Hindu Temple at Hoogoorddreef 79 in Zuidoost is open daily from 07:00 to 20:30, with aarti at 19:00; the Radha Krishna Mandir at Saaftingestraat 310 in Osdorp opens on Sundays from 11:00 to 13:00; ISKCON is at Lizzy Ansinghstraat 80 in De Pijp, with a Sunday feast.
What is the oldest Hindu temple in the Netherlands?
The Shri Shiv Mandir at Nozemanstraat 3 in Rotterdam-West, founded in 1980 and still in its basement. Its Sunday service is from 09:00 to 10:30.
Where are the gurdwaras in the Netherlands?
