What makes it different
Everything is measured from where you stand
Most community apps hand you a country and let you dig. This one starts at your front door and works outwards — one radius, applied to every business, question, listing, group and event at once.
One slider changes everything
Set it to 10 km for the next street or 200 km for the whole region, and every screen reshapes at once — businesses, questions, things for sale, events and groups.
A distance on every card
Not a city name you have to decode. The sofa is 3 km away, the plumber covers your postcode, the run starts a twenty-minute walk from here.
No “everywhere” button
The widest view is your own country, and the server enforces that even if an app asks for more. A feed full of another country’s sofas is not a community.
Near, without pinning your door
Distances are measured on our side from the exact point. What reaches anyone else’s phone is rounded to about a kilometre, and the map draws an area rather than a pin.

Who is Namaste Community for?
Indians and South Asians living in Belgium — students, professionals and families — and anyone else settling into a new country. It started in Brussels and Antwerp and is growing country by country.
Is it free?
Yes. Browsing, asking, selling, lending and listing your business are all free.
What does “hyperlocal” actually mean here?
Everything in the app carries a location, and you choose how far you want to see — 10, 50, 100, 200 km, or your whole country. Each card tells you how far away it is, and the widest setting is still your own country: there is no worldwide feed to get lost in.
Does the app share my exact address?
No. Distances are calculated on our servers from the precise point, but the coordinates sent to other members are rounded to roughly a kilometre, and the map shows an area rather than a pin. That applies to everything you post, including posts from before we built it.
What are Groups?
Chat rooms for people in one place — a running club, a book club, the parents at one school. Each group is anchored to a place and a radius its creator chooses, so you only see groups you could actually turn up to. Anyone with a verified phone number can start one; we review it before it appears.
Why can I only read titles on this website?
The community lives inside the app, where we can keep it safe — verified members, moderation and reporting. The website shows you what is being discussed; the app is where you take part.
Do I have to use my real name?
No. You can post questions, answers and reviews under a persistent pseudonym, so the community still recognises you across posts without knowing who you are.
Is this only for Indian expats?
It started with the Indian community in Belgium and that is still its heart, but everyone settling into a new country is welcome.
How do I list my business?
Create your listing in the app under Yellow Pages, or message us on WhatsApp and we will walk you through it.
How do you handle my data?
Contact details on business listings are never exposed to the browser, and we never sell your data. Ask us anything about it — the form on this page reaches a human.
