Sell tickets for your event, get paid directly

Free registrations, or paid tickets that buyers pay straight into your own account — by bank transfer or at the door. Every booking becomes a QR ticket, the door is scanned from a phone, and you never chase a spreadsheet of who paid again.

Creating an event needs a free Namaste account.

How selling tickets works

Six steps, and most of them happen once.

  1. 1

    Create your event

On the website at Namaste for Business or in the Namaste app — title, date, venue, a poster. Every event is checked by a person before it goes live, as it always has been.
  2. 2

    Turn on tickets

In the event form, choose free registration or paid tickets. For paid tickets, set the price and pick how buyers can pay: bank transfer, at the door, or both (and card, where it is available). You can add more ticket types — early bird, family, volunteers — from your ticket desk.
  3. 3

Ask to be a verified seller (paid tickets only)

If your event collects money, the form asks for your organisation name, a phone number, the account buyers should pay into and a short note. You only do this once. Your event can be published while our team checks it; ticketing switches on by itself once you are approved.
  4. 4

    Share the link

Your event page gets a “Get tickets” button on the website and in the app. Members book in a couple of taps; people without an account can book on the website with just a name and an email address.
  5. 5

    Confirm payments

Bank transfers arrive in your account with a reference like NMT-XXXX-XXXX. Find the order in your ticket desk, tap Mark paid, and the buyer’s QR tickets are emailed straight away. Pay-at-the-door and free tickets are issued immediately — nothing to do.
  6. 6

Scan at the door, then read the report

Check people in with the Namaste app or any phone browser. Afterwards the report shows what sold, what was paid, who came and where your audience came from — with an attendee list you can download.

Ways to get paid

Pick one or several for each event. Buyers see only the ones you switched on, and you can narrow them per ticket type.

Free registration

Attendees book a free ticket and get a QR code by email and in the app. Booking is also their RSVP, so they join the event chat and get reminders.

Good for

  • Community meetups, pujas, open days
  • Knowing numbers in advance for food and seating

Watch out for

  • Free tickets are easy to book and skip — expect some no-shows

Bank transfer

Rolling out
The buyer reserves seats and sees the amount, a payment reference (NMT-XXXX-XXXX) and your account details — in SEPA countries also a payment QR code to scan in their banking app. Seats are held for 72 hours (3 days), never past the start of the event, with one reminder before the hold ends. You tap Mark paid when the money is in, and the tickets are emailed.

Good for

  • Paid events where you want money before the day
  • No card fees: the full price lands in your account

Watch out for

  • You check your account and mark each order paid
  • Transfers can take a day — mark paid only once the money has arrived
  • Unpaid holds keep seats off sale until they run out

Pay at the door

Rolling out
Tickets are issued at once, each showing what is still due. At the door the scanner says Collect and the amount; your staff take the payment, confirm, and it is recorded on the check-in.

Good for

  • Casual events and repeat audiences
  • Buyers who would rather not pay a stranger in advance

Watch out for

  • Nobody has paid until they arrive — no-shows cost you
  • Cash or a card terminal at the door is your own
  • Buyers can cancel up to the start of the event

Card

Coming later
Card payments through Stripe are switched on for selected organisers once available. Until then, bank transfer and pay at the door cover paid events.

Good for

  • Instant confirmation, nothing to mark paid
  • Automatic refunds if an event is cancelled

Watch out for

  • Needs separate approval and is not offered everywhere
  • The money is settled with you afterwards, not paid straight into your account

You are the seller

With bank transfer and pay at the door, buyers pay you directly. Payment, refunds and disputes are between you and the buyer; Namaste does not hold the money. Buyers are told exactly this at checkout.

Getting verified

Collecting money needs a verified seller, because buyers are sending money to you on Namaste’s word. Free registrations do not.

  • What you send

    • Your organisation or collective’s name
    • A phone number our team can reach
    • The account buyers pay into (for bank transfer)
    • A short note: who you are, what events you run
  • What happens next

    • Ask from the event form or your ticket desk
    • Publish the event meanwhile — it does not wait
    • A person reviews the request
    • On approval, ticketing goes live on its own

Your account details are shown only to buyers who have reserved and are paying by bank transfer, and only while their payment is due.

The event plan and what it costs

Namaste charges for one thing: the plan on events that collect money. Free registrations are always free and are never part of it.

To start

Free

Your first 10 events that collect money are free, up to 100 attendees each.

Event plan

€50.00 per event

After that, or for an event bigger than 100, a plan costs €50.00 per event, up to 1,000 attendees.

Bigger events

Let’s talk

More than 1,000 attendees? Talk to us and we will set up a plan that fits.

  • Attendees means tickets issued and seats held for that event, counted against its plan.
  • Your ticket desk shows how many free events you have left and how full this event’s plan is.
  • When an event reaches its plan’s limit, sales pause until you upgrade it — by card from the desk where that is offered, or ask and our team arranges it.

Check-in at the door

Every ticket carries a QR code. Scan it with the Namaste app, or open your event’s check-in page in any phone browser — no app needed.

Door

Scans tickets, collects pay-at-the-door payments and checks people in from the list. Ideal for volunteers.

Manager

Everything Door can do, plus marking bank transfers paid, cancelling unpaid reservations and seeing the event report.

  • Add staff from your ticket desk by their Namaste name or handle.
  • The scanner tells you at once: valid, already used, cancelled, or a ticket for a different event.
  • Phone screen cracked or dim? Search the list by name or ticket code and check them in by hand.
  • Check-in is online, so make sure the door has signal or Wi-Fi.

Your report

Live while you sell, complete after the night.

  • Tickets issued against your capacity, per ticket type
  • Orders by status: awaiting payment, paid, pay at the door, free, cancelled, expired
  • Money expected and collected, per payment method
  • Check-ins and turnout
  • Sales over time
  • Promo code use
  • Audience: home city and country, first-timers and returning guests
  • An attendee list, downloadable as CSV

The audience breakdown is counts, never names, and any group smaller than five is folded into “Other”, so no one can be picked out of it.

What attendees share with you

Attendees are told, right above the confirm button:

“The organiser will see your name, and your city and country unless you’ve hidden your location, from your Namaste profile for this event.”

You see

  • The name typed on each ticket
  • The booking member’s public name, and the city and country on their profile — unless they hide their location or post anonymously
  • For guests without an account, the name they typed
  • Payment state and check-in time

You never see

  • Email addresses
  • Phone numbers
  • Age — Namaste profiles do not hold one

Want to reach your attendees? Post in your event’s chat room — every member holding a ticket is in it. See our privacy policy for the attendee side.

Your responsibilities

Namaste is the box office. The event, and the sale, are yours.

  • Seller of record

For bank transfer and pay at the door, you sell the ticket and you receive the money. Payment, refunds and disputes are between you and the buyer.

  • Refunds

Publish your refund policy in the event description and keep to it. If you cancel the event, every ticket is cancelled and every holder is told; giving back money people sent you is up to you. A buyer cannot cancel a bank transfer you have marked paid — they have to ask you.

  • Buyer reports

A buyer can tell us from their order page that they paid and got nothing, or that something is wrong with an organiser. Our team reads every report and may contact you; unresolved problems can lead to ticket sales being paused.

  • Consumer law

In the EU, the 14-day right of withdrawal does not apply to leisure events booked for a specific date, so you do not have to accept a change-of-mind cancellation. Cancelling or materially changing the event is different: then buyers are owed their money. Rules elsewhere differ; this is general information, not legal advice.

  • Tax and VAT

Any VAT or other tax due on your ticket sales is yours to declare and pay, as the seller. Namaste does not charge or collect it on your behalf.

Questions organisers ask

Does it cost anything to take free registrations?

No. Free registrations are always free, however many people sign up, and they never count towards the event plan. The plan only applies to events that collect money.

What does it cost to sell paid tickets?

Free registrations are always free and sit outside the plan. Your first 10 events that collect money are free, up to 100 attendees each. After that, or for an event bigger than 100, a plan costs €50.00 per event, up to 1,000 attendees. More than 1,000 attendees? Talk to us and we will set up a plan that fits.

Does Namaste take a cut of my ticket money?

Not for bank transfer or pay at the door. Buyers pay you directly and the money never passes through Namaste, so there is no commission on those sales. The event plan is the only thing Namaste charges for.

How long are seats held for someone paying by bank transfer?

For 72 hours (3 days), and never past the start of your event. The buyer gets one reminder before the hold runs out. If you have not marked the order paid by then, the seats go back on sale and the buyer is told by email.

What if a buyer pays after their reservation has run out?

You can still mark the order paid from your ticket desk as long as there are seats left, and their tickets are issued as normal. If the event has sold out in the meantime, you give the buyer their money back.

Why do I need to be a verified seller?

Because buyers send money straight to you, our team checks that a real organiser is behind the account before an event can collect payments. You ask once — from the event form or your ticket desk — with your organisation name, a phone number, the account buyers should pay into and a short note. Free registrations need no verification.

Can I publish my event while I wait for verification?

Yes. The event goes through the normal review and can be live straight away. Paid ticketing switches on automatically once your seller request is approved.

Do I need the Namaste app to check people in?

No. Door check-in works in the Namaste app and in any phone browser on your event’s check-in page. Both scan the QR code on the ticket, and both have a searchable list for when a phone screen will not scan.

Can volunteers scan tickets for me?

Yes. Add them as door staff from your ticket desk. Door staff can scan and check people in. Give someone the Manager role if they should also mark bank transfers as paid and see the event report.

Will I see attendees’ email addresses or phone numbers?

No. You see the name on each ticket, the booking member’s public name and — unless they hide their location — their city and country from their Namaste profile, and check-in times. Email addresses and phone numbers are never shown to organisers or door staff.

Who handles refunds?

You do, for bank transfer and pay-at-the-door orders: you are the seller, so payment, refunds and disputes are between you and the buyer. If you cancel the event, every ticket is cancelled and every holder is told — returning money they sent you is up to you.

Do buyers in the EU get 14 days to change their mind?

Generally not for events. EU consumer law exempts leisure services booked for a specific date from the 14-day right of withdrawal, so you do not have to accept a change-of-mind cancellation. You still have to refund if you cancel the event or change it materially. This is general information, not legal advice.
