Order Indian Groceries Online in Belgium

You no longer have to plan a Saturday around finding curry leaves. Several Indian grocers now deliver across Belgium, which matters most if you are not in Brussels or Antwerp and the nearest shop is an hour each way.

Order dry goods online, buy fresh in person. Where these shops genuinely beat a trip is on weight and shelf life — flour, rice, dal, whole spices, ghee, pickles. Fresh coriander, curry leaves, ginger and vegetables travel poorly and are worth a visit to a physical shop, where you can also see what you are buying.
Making it worthwhile
- Check the free-delivery threshold before you fill a basket. Most set one, and a large order once a quarter beats four small ones with shipping attached.
- Buy spices whole where you can — they keep far longer than ground, and the difference in a tadka is not subtle.
- Split an order with neighbours or colleagues to clear the threshold and share the delivery.
- Compare against the supermarket. Belgian chains now carry basmati, lentils, paneer and a reasonable spice range, often cheaper than a specialist shop for the everyday items.
Watch the dates on slow-moving stock
Specialist items sell slowly, and best-before dates on imported pickles, snacks and ready mixes can be closer than you would expect. Check on arrival and raise it straight away if something is nearly out — the shops are generally good about it, but not weeks later.
The shops themselves
Physical Indian grocers cluster in Brussels — around Evere and Schaerbeek in particular — and in Antwerp and Ghent. They are worth the trip occasionally regardless of delivery: it is where you find the thing you did not know to search for, and where people tell you which brand of atta is actually good.
